Google Releases Mobile Street Map Service Ahead of Android Smartphone Launch

Google Releases Mobile Street Map Service Ahead of Android Smartphone Launch

Google has come up with an upgraded version of its popular Google Maps service for mobile handsets that incorporates an advanced Street view mode along with providing walking directions.

Many analysts are linking this move to the upcoming launch of HTC Dream handset which features the Google’s Android; an innovative software stack designed for mobile devices.

Though users of desktop version of Google Maps have long benefited from these features, their availability on mobile handsets is expected to provide more practical benefits as people can search for locations while on the move.

However one must note that the updated version is available only for Java enabled mobile handsets and BlackBerry handsets; thus users of other handsets including Apple iPhone will remain deprived of this new feature at least for now.

The updated software also seems be more responsive than the previous versions and it also contains an additional option that provides reviews for businesses.
